Lesson #11 – Theme: Halloween
Focus: THEME: Halloween
10 minutes – Discussion Points/Important Questions:
Ask the athletes what they are working on right now. What are the 4 main points of good shooting? Sight picture, position/natural alignment, breathing, trigger pull.
They pick one to focus on for that night.
15 minutes – Head Out to Range, Zero, Confirm, and Start 10 Minute Warm-up
35 minutes – Combo Practice Working on Session Focus
What to look for: Interact with the athletes during combo. Ask them what makes a good shot? Ask them where their shots went or why it was a good or bad shot.
25 minutes – 1 Skill/Drill Based on Focus: Pumpkin Carvers
Athletes get a large pumpkin outline on paper – best in color or black outline and big. They get 15 shots to “carve their pumpkin” and put the shots where they would like.
1 Game: Zombie Tag Three-Four athletes (Zombies) start in the “graveyard” – long pylon-marked rectangle in the stadium. The other athletes will try to ski or run through the graveyard and around the fence to shoot. If they pass through the graveyard and get tagged, they switch places with the Zombie in the graveyard. The first person to hit 20 targets down is the winner. – Athletes can keep track themselves or coach can keep a tally.
Equipment Needed: Z/C paper, pumpkin on paper, pylons for graveyard.
