Lessons
The plans below are meant to be used as a guideline to help you design your own practices. They are designed to encourage athlete engagement and meaningful questions for the athletes to learn. They are listed in the order created, but of course could be mixed and matched to work best for you and your team. They are all roughly 1.5 hours with the same timing to help athletes get into a consistent practice pattern.
Lesson structure:
- 10 minutes – Discussion Points/Important Questions
- 15 minutes – Range Preparation, Zero, Confirm
- 35 minutes – Combo Practice Working on Session Focus
- 25 minutes – 1 Skill/Drill and 1 Game Based on Focus
These could be suitable for athletes aged 9 to 13 with some adaptation for each group.
Lesson #18 - Cue Word & Shot Recall
Using cue words to focus and how to identify shot location.
Lesson #19 - Heavy Trigger Pressure
Teaching how to load the trigger and follow through with shots.
Lesson #20 - Putting It All Together
How to be efficient and purposeful with your training as a biathlete.
Lesson #21 - Tracking & Rifle Control
Track for consistency between shots and autonomous set-up.

Lesson #22 - Position Speed
Getting in and out of position efficiently and shooting quickly.
Lesson #24 - Wind & Range Analysis
Range entry assessment, and fundamentals of wind analysis.
