The plans below are meant to be used as a guideline to help you design your own practices. They are designed to encourage athlete engagement and meaningful questions for the athletes to learn. They are listed in the order created, but of course could be mixed and matched to work best for you and your team. They are all roughly 1.5 hours with the same timing to help athletes get into a consistent practice pattern.

Lesson structure:

  1. 10 minutes – Discussion Points/Important Questions
  2. 15 minutes – Range Preparation, Zero, Confirm
  3. 35 minutes – Combo Practice Working on Session Focus
  4. 25 minutes – 1 Skill/Drill and 1 Game Based on Focus

These could be suitable for athletes aged 9 to 13 with some adaptation for each group.

Sight picture, and aiming on lines.

Applying focus during shooting, and between shots.

Fundamentals of natural alignment.

Process vs. outcome focus, and how to utilize them in race.
